Can Pspeak help with fear of public speaking? View Answer
Absolutely. It’s the main reason we created Pspeak. The content in our site is specifically designed to and presented in an order that will dramatically change the way you view public speaking. Our live practice area is the key to alleviating anxiety related to public speaking.
What does Pspeak cost? View Answer
Check out our Membership Plans page for current pricing. Pspeak is an extremely good value when compared to other options such as attending expensive workshops that also often require travel costs and missed work. For a low monthly membership fee you get unlimited access to the valuable Pspeak learning content, the live practice area, presentation tools, and more.
There’s a lot of free information out there on the internet. Why should I pay for using Pspeak? View Answer
You usually get what you pay for, and public speaking education is no different. Much of what you see online and in books is not researched, tested or proven material. It’s easy to write amateur opinions or generalities and throw them onto a website. What you’ll find in Pspeak is information based on extensive research and scientific studies focused entirely on all aspects of public speaking. Equally important, the Learning Path, Rapid Learning Area and Live Practice Area are totally unique and will have far more impact and influence than any article could ever have.
What is different or better about Pspeak than just reading a book about public speaking? View Answer
Books are usually “one size fits all”. People aren't, especially when it comes to something as complex and potentially terrifying as public speaking. Whether it’s age, personal experiences, your particular situation, the level of anxiety you’re experiencing, language challenges, motivation, or even the setting of your event, your path to successful public speaking needs to be customized to fit YOUR needs. By accessing the live practice area and learning from content that was selected for you based on your unique answers to questions in our assessment area, you will make gains not possible with a book. Add in optional personal coaching and your skills will grow even further. Check out our How Pspeak Works section for more info.
Why shouldn't I just practice my presentations with friends and family or in front of a mirror? View Answer
Practicing with a friend or family member is useful, but by itself it’s not enough. The people you’ll meet in Pspeak are going to be practicing proven public speaking methods just like you, so they’ll provide valuable feedback that simply will not occur to anyone who doesn't know much about public speaking. Our Pspeak community is also made up of people that understand public speaking anxiety because the vast majority have felt it at some point or another, and many are working on getting through it. That means great support for you while you learn, and in turn you will be supporting others! As for the mirror, it doesn't compare to practicing in front of real people. A mirror can’t give you feedback, nor can it create the feelings associated with a live audience.
Who will I be talking to in the live practice area?? View Answer
The best answer is people just like you. The Pspeak live practice community is made up of people who also want and need to learn how to speak in public, and many of whom want to overcome public speaking anxiety. Since everyone is here for the same reason, you will find a very supportive audience that is able to give you great feedback.
I heard of some public speaking groups nearby. Should I go to those instead? View Answer
We have great respect for those groups and what they want to accomplish, but we still recommend you use Pspeak first. Our approach enables you to meet via web conference which is both convenient and less stressful. You can always attend those groups later on – IF you still feel the need for more practice, which is often not required after using our process. Meeting in a web conference can be an easier step when it comes to anxiety—it’s about halfway between giving a live presentation and practicing in the mirror. Attendees with anxiety may find it much easier to start practicing in a web conference area and move to live presentations later. In-person group meetings are run on a tight schedule; Pspeak is VERY flexible: you can learn any time of day or night, and you can often find practice partners almost any time, day or night.
I’ve given presentations before and I did OK. Do I need Pspeak? View Answer
Anyone can benefit from more knowledge and practice. As you’ll discover in our section that talks about Michael Jordan’s legendary work ethic, you can always get better. Our process is comprehensive (if you want it to be--it can be quick, too, for emergency situations! ). We’re confident that you’ll find things about presenting in front of an audience, and about yourself, that never occurred to you that will make you a much better speaker.
My speaking situation is unusual. Can I use Pspeak or is it only good for general public speaking? View Answer
We have content for a variety of situations such as education, business, social events like PTA meetings, special events like wedding toasts, award acceptance, and more. (And we’re open to suggestions for new categories!) We’re confident the content and the ability to practice online with others will apply to you.
Should I attend a live public speaking training seminar instead of using Pspeak? View Answer
Live, in person seminars can be powerful (note that we can host them as well). There are many advantages to joining Pspeak. First, Pspeak will continue to serve you as long as you want it to while a live seminar ends after a couple of days. Next, those seminars are also often given by individuals who give their "spin" on public speaking. Our site contains abundant, well-researched and highly developed information on all phases of public speaking. Next, when you join Pspeak you’re also joining a community. There are many people who participate in our live practice area. People enjoy helping each other here. Next, Pspeak doesn't require losing a weekend or work time or traveling to some distant location for a seminar – you can work on Pspeak ANY time. Also, live public speaking courses often cost thousands of dollars while Pspeak costs much less.
